Yesterday Nicholas told me we were going on a road trip to San Francisco.
He neglected to inform me it was a trip to clear out a storage unit, and that car space would be questionable.
He also neglected to inform me of the possibility that the probability of riding in a styrofoam container would be higher than 0%.
This would not be the way I recommend anyone travel by car.
Least of all myself.
This morning I went to a parade.
Nicholas explained that it was something to experience, so experience a parade we did.
No parade experience is complete without a portable folding chair so when Nicholas’s dad went for coffee I took his chair for myself.
He came back, so it was back to the backpack for me.
Visit a parade : check.
Humour my best bear bud by going to a parade : check.
Ok, it was kind of fun to go see a parade.
We hung out.
He was an acceptable companion. For a cat.
I like to think I’m an active well rounded bear, so while we were up in Bend Oregon visiting Nicholas’ sister, we went out to Green Lakes for a morning hike.
They wouldn’t let me take chocolate because they thought it’d melt, so I brought the next best thing. Matching green chips. They were so awesome they nearly exploded out of its own packaging.
Of course we stopped for a family portrait at the lakes.
And then we hiked back.
And that was all.
That’s right.
My best bear bud built me a Captain’s chair so I can issue orders from the comfort of my very own hickory chair.
Does your best bear bud do that for you?
Didn’t think so.
Nicholas, hot chocolate! and games!
The title says it all.
Well, I should clarify that’s so many alfajores until I eat them.
I remembered to be thoughtful. I shared a little when Nicholas went over to visit his mom and I tagged along as the bear-er of goodies from my tourist-days in Chile.
Today, Nicholas went out and bought his dad a bike.
At first I thought maybe he bought the bike for me because, well, why wouldn’t he buy me a bike?
But then I read the note.
That’s ok, I’d only want a bike with a basket so that I can sit in the basket ET style while Nicholas carts me around.
Real cocoa.
That’s right, this bear knows how to sniff out his cocoa stash as well.
I’m back home!

Well, it’s been almost 7 months in Chile and now it’s time to say goodbye.
Chile, it’s been fun. I liked playing tourist. I didn’t like my lack of internet. I tolerated my amount of gaming and I enjoyed hoarding alfajores – but let’s be real. It’s time to get back on a plane and get back to some real gaming and bear tin growing!
